Privacy Policy
Summary
Diemlog is built to keep residency and visa day data on your device. The mobile apps do not require an account and do not send your ledger data to Diemlog servers for normal use. On the Play variant, optional Google platform services (location APIs and Play Billing) may process limited data as described below. This website is a static marketing site without accounts or analytics cookies.
Who we are
Diemlog is provided by the Diemlog project. Contact: [email protected]. Support page: diemlog.com/support.
Data Diemlog stores on your device
Depending on features you use, the app may store locally:
- Travel and residency events you enter or that auto-tracking records (timestamps, country codes, related annotations).
- Optional document vault files you import.
- Optional EXIF-derived location hints from photos you choose to scan.
- Encrypted local backups you create.
- Entitlement state (Play Billing purchase tokens on the Play variant, or an imported offline license file on the Google-free variant).
- App preferences, including Free-tier last-active rule and swap-cooldown timestamps, and a last-seen clock value used to detect device clock rollback for offline license checks and Free swap eligibility.
This data stays in the app’s encrypted on-device database (and in backups you export) unless you choose to share an export yourself.
Permissions and sensors
- Location / network country (optional): used to detect country changes for auto-tracking after you grant permission and enable tracking (introduced during setup, from the Dashboard, or in Settings—always with the same explanation). Auto-tracking is available on Free; Premium is not required. The primary signal is the mobile network country code (MCC), processed on device—not continuous GPS. Approximate or precise location may be used as a fallback to resolve a country code. The Play variant may also use Google Play services location APIs and the platform geocoder under Google’s terms; Diemlog does not receive that data on Diemlog servers. The Google-free variant uses platform location APIs without Google Play services for location.
- Background location (optional): requested only after foreground location is granted, so the app can refresh your place while you travel without opening the app every time. Foreground-only grant still enables tracking and live Dashboard samples when the app is in use.
- Photos / media (optional): only when you run EXIF backfill on photos you select.
- Foreground service: a location foreground service keeps tracking reliable when the OS would otherwise stop background work. Tracking activation does not request notification permission.
- Internet: not required for core logging and rule evaluation. The Play variant uses Google Play Billing for purchases. Optional sync, when shipped, will only run after you explicitly enable it.
What we do not collect by default
- No Diemlog account.
- No telemetry, crash reports, or advertising identifiers sent to Diemlog servers for normal app use.
- No sale of personal data.
- No third-party analytics SDKs for marketing attribution in the apps.
Payments
- Play variant: subscriptions and one-time purchases are processed by Google Play Billing. Purchase and subscription history is handled by Google under Google’s privacy policy; Diemlog does not receive your payment card details. The app receives entitlement status (for example purchase tokens) needed to unlock Premium features on the device.
- Google-free variant: Premium is unlocked by importing a signed license file. Verification is performed on-device with an embedded public key. Issuing a license (for example after a purchase) may involve a separate purchase site in the future; that site will publish its own notice when live.
Sync (planned, optional)
A future sync feature may let you connect to a Diemlog-hosted
server (app.diemlog.com) or a server you self-host. Sync
is not sold with launch Premium and will be off by default. When it
ships, this policy will be updated with the exact data categories and
retention rules before the feature is offered to users.
This website
diemlog.com is a static site. We do not set analytics
cookies. Your browser and our hosting provider may process standard
server logs (such as IP address and user agent) as part of delivering
the pages. We do not use those logs to build marketing profiles.
Children
Diemlog is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect children’s personal data.
Your choices
- You can use the app offline.
- You can export or delete local data by clearing app storage or uninstalling.
- You can revoke location and photo permissions in system settings.
- You can contact us to ask questions about this policy.
Changes
We may update this policy as features change. The effective date at the top will change when we do. Material changes that affect an already-shipped network feature will be described before that feature is enabled for users.
